TORTUGA STUDIOS GROUP SHOW OPENED FRIDAY OCTOBER 28th 6-9pm 2011 SHOW RAN OCTOBER 29th – NOVEMBER 6th 2011
In remembrance of life, the Day of the Dead is a living memory to souls who have moved on, a dedication to the deceased. In honour, visceral skulls leer suggestively, their skeletal remains clanking with angst, hollow-eyed heads sprouting with candy-bright marigolds.
The clandestine cult of Santa Muerte is a contrivance of bleached bone and bright robe, flowers, scythe and globe, the deification of death. And in the guttering candle light of a thousand memories of man, the silvery ghosts of the past return to live again.
In the spirit of Mictecacihuatl, the Aztec Queen of the underworld, we invited you to feast with us.
You came, you rattled your bones and dug deep into the afterlife.
